I can’t tell you how prayer works, but I know it makes a difference. And it’s a resource that’s available to everyone. But we don’t use prayer to make God see things our way; instead, we seek to see life God’s way: to see ourselves, situations, other people, our past, and our future more as God does.
As we work to support survivors, we often don’t even know what to pray for or what to say. First off, of course, let’s pray for ourselves that we will be godly, sympathetic, perceptive, and Christ-like in our interactions. And here’s an idea for a prayer for a specific survivor: Dear God, please help _________ know, believe, and feel that they are loveable and loved by you.
