A new year is almost here. For many survivors, that’s a scary thought. Many of us lack the ability to plan ahead; very often, we’re afraid to dream and anticipate. We’re just doing our best to make it a day at a time.
So please don’t ask us about goals for 2026, or resolutions, or what we plan to do. Don’t try to pin us down, or pressure us into developing a “format for success” in the new year. The best ways to support us are to pray for us, listen to us (if we want to talk), and offer genuine love and encouragement.
Stuck for something to talk about? There’s always the weather, or football playoffs. Of course, you can just smile and hold a loving silence.
We don’t always say it. But please know that we appreciate everyone who offers godly warmth and acceptance. It makes a difference, and you matter.
