As we express appreciation for progress, sincerity is highly important. If we’re voicing praise but thinking negative thoughts, it’s no good. The Bible tells us that love must be genuine (Romans 12:9) and the same is true for encouragement.

If you can’t think of anything positive to say, ask God to reveal it to you because there are good things to say about most people. Then be friendly but silent till you find out what it is. Let’s not lie to people and pretend that we’re trying to help them; eventually, that will backfire and it won’t glorify God.
